I agree.

To be honest, it looks like there is water... underwater. Due to the background. It looks kind of weird.

Re: [Subproject] Sunshine Paradise

the todo list has been slighly reorganized.

ps: please don't get too much excited, as ssp is not a water level and *must not* have significative water areas. you'll have plenty of space to have fun with water on waterworks zone.

behind the water there should be a wall (that darker version of SurgeChris' texture)

also, the mountains must be compatible with the sunlight. smile

Re: [Subproject] Sunshine Paradise

if anyone can please choose which slope groups are we using (from ultra template), i can also help. You only need to copy them and paste into a new image. even if they are not aligned. Or load ultra template and take a note of the group numbers you want.

I can then align everything in 64*64 groups and apply the texture and details as needed. One thing to have in mind, is that we should use the "blank" template (the one with no textures/details) to generate the brk and grp in RBE, as once the brickset is completely detailed, we won't need to worry about this or that pixel messing up the angle, because it is already set.

thanks for the proactiveness, KZR smile

we're using ultra template 2.3 - the whole thing.

one only needs to texturize it, add the grass, add the level-specific passables (bushes, trees, flowers, etc.) and that's all. keep in mind of what is a cloud and what is solid, so we can texturize the brickset accordingly without making the level building confusing.

that's all. it should be pretty straightforward to make. if the goals for the brickset are still unclear for anyone, please tell us.

Re: [Subproject] Sunshine Paradise

It's good to be used. smile it needs to be tested to find places where corrections/changes are needed.

There is a level ready to build called "ssp ultra template".

Happy building big_smile

thanks a lot, KZR smile

I'm also modifying the brickset a little bit, taking out those little "hair" out of the grass - they affect the movement - making the ground smoother. If we really need the irregular grass, it'd be wise to make it as a passable brick instead. I'm also adding some cute details (flowers, etc) to the brickset, but the brickset is already ready to be used!

Regarding SSP's enemies and items, how are we? SilverstepP and lunarrush, could you please give some feedback? Thanks. smile

@KZR: i'm also adjusting the background a little bit. In the previous revision, your mountains were pretty nice, but now they are way too saturated. I'll also add some details, but hey, my artistic skills are no guarantee of anything roll tongue

okay, I improved the brickset a bit (scroll down)

I've adapted some sprites made by Redshrike to Sunshine Paradise. We just need the waterfalls now.

Re: [Subproject] Sunshine Paradise

animated water added to the brickset. check bricks 9900 to 9925.

s043.png
s044.png

PS:

the water bricks are in a separate image. this means the animated bricks can be copied to virtually any brickset, as long as you include the water_bricks.png in your images folder, and, of course, bricks 9900 to 9925 are not already used.

Hi everyone!

Is there a testable snapshot somewhere?

I guess you're not that far from presenting the first levels, right? smile cool

Yeah, you can say I'm mad (as in crazy) to quote something a month old, but should I update the brickset progress in the TODO List?

I took off the non-solids at the end of the brickset.

There`s the bleeding edge version, which only contains the template, and there's a community build on dropbox. Dropbox is being used to design Sunshine Paradise.

Best regards,

I have a suggestion regarding this.

Since many people are probably not going to install and create an account on dropbox, we could zip weekly snapshots. i have enough space to host this in my public folder, if you people really want it smile

the other way, is for people to get a dropbox account and tell us which email they registered so we can give them access.

Re: [Subproject] Sunshine Paradise

Hi,

I'm aware of the level design in progress in dropbox, but I thought that you could want to include the first level design made in the OpenSNC repository sooner or later.

I'm sure people would try it out more easily that way, using bleeding edges for instance.
It would also be much more appealing graphically, and regarding what the engine is capable of.

Again, it's just a question, of course. smile

Best regards,

Re: [Subproject] Sunshine Paradise

very well done, Race. smile Excellent job.

I'd like to know if some of you guys can put together the bricks Race posted on August 1st on a single .png and make a brickset for them (by hand, not using RBE). Then we'll be able to integrate them to the current brickset of Sunshine Paradise.

Thank you.
