See it. I change the pause menu and the "open sonic" dialog in red at first of the level smile
Want it in my site:

Re: New design for gui image

Those are cool, but I have another act sign (I mean the "Act 1", "Act 2", and "Act 3") design. Tell me your opinion, too! big_smile

These are really great! Please put your name on the spritesheet.

Did you make it from scratch? If you did, can we put it under the gpl?

A-OK, Alexandre!

Not really. It first starts out with a simple recolor when I was still beginning to modify the game. Then, I tried gradient recoloring with MS Paint. After that, I decided to erase the tree thingies on the old ones. I recolored the rectangle surrounding "Act" with a darker color, and replaced the fonts with the ones in font.png by Ste Pickford.
4igfh5.png
By the way, change

    source_file     images/gui.png
    source_rect     0 141 144 32
    frame_size      48 32
    hot_spot        0 0

with

    source_file     images/acts.png
    source_rect     0 0 135 30
    frame_size      45 30
    hot_spot        0 0

once you download the file.

Also, rename the file once you download it. It's the only thing I hate about www.tinypic.com.

Re: New design for gui image

Well, the font from Ste Pickford is okay to use because it's free.

but if you don't have full rights over your work, then we'll have to replace it eventually. sad I guess just the numbers 1, 2 and 3 are problematic, is that right?

Re: New design for gui image

SonicChris, we'd like to use these for 0.1.4 (we're releasing in on the next few days), but we can't do it unless you make it fully original. You have made these graphics with a really nice style, and it would be a shame to drop them. sad

Is it possible to fix this?

Yes, only the numbers are problematic. By the way, you can use them. However, if you want the original, you will have to wait until next week.

Re: New design for gui image

Okay. I'm taking off the "act" icons for now. We'll release 0.1.4 within a few days. If it's possible to finish the icons until about Saturday, they'll probably be included in 0.1.4. Otherwise it will have to wait some months until 0.2.0. smile

I  computer science.

If it's next Saturday (September 18), I can. On the other hand, if it's tomorrow, I can't.

Re: New design for gui image

Maybe these pictures will do for dialog windows:
With the extra corner: http://i064.radikal.ru/1009/bc/f86a00586d87.png
W/o the extra corner: http://s005.radikal.ru/i211/1009/84/7ef695ef4d94.png

And yeah, the only thing used is corner coordinates of the original images' dialogs. Everything is pretty much original (the colors used are a part of Blues palette included in GIMP).

Hello d1337r and welcome to the forums.

Thank you for the contribution. It looks good, but unfortunately we can't accept it if it (or some part of it) is based on the original images' dialogs. That's because the old dialogs are based on a ripped image.

Would you make it from scratch?

Re: New design for gui image

Well, if that corner can't be reused, you can use
b2e20844d0c9.png
and
dba8a93b11a2.png
for the dialogs. This time it is made fully from scratch, and is a bit darker (so the colored words for So... sorry, Surge will look more noticeable). And yeah, I'm not a good designer, but when graphics need to be made, they do.

Re: New design for gui image

Hey d1337r, it looks pretty nice in-game. The contrast has improved compared to the old one. Is it possible to make the borders a bit thiner?

s009.png

s012.png

For anyone who wants to try it out, this is the sprite script:

// Confirm Box
sprite SD_CONFIRMBOX
{
    source_file     images/dialogbox_small.png
    source_rect     0 0 179 73
    frame_size      179 63
    hot_spot        0 0

    // default
    animation 0
    {
        repeat      TRUE
        fps         8
        data        0
    }
}

// Dialog Box
sprite SD_DIALOGBOX
{
    source_file     images/dialogbox_big.png
    source_rect     0 0 272 68
    frame_size      272 68
    hot_spot        0 0

    // idle
    animation 0
    {
        repeat      TRUE
        fps         8
        data        0
    }
}

Re: New design for gui image

Yes, it is possible. Here are four new images, 1px and 2px thinner for each dialog box:

I think the 1 px thinner looks better smile .

I think so too, but included -2px versions just in case you need them.

d1337r, could you please make a spritesheet with your name in it? We're gonna use it.
