edit (aug, 2018): this thread is obsolete. Due to an incompatibility between the CC-BY-SA and the GPL, this recommendation no longer applies. We now suggest using the CC-BY, as can be found in a new thread.
This area is designed to hold only user-created original content that is compatible with Open Surge. By "content" we understand: art, sound effects, musics, levels, bricksets, scripts and other related forms of media.
(or, by your choice, under a less restrictive license such as the CC-BY 3.0. Works under the public domain are also okay)
If you see any content that do not comply to these terms, please PM one of the moderators, so that we can deal with it.
Before you can contribute, it's a good idea to learn basics of the engine first. The wiki is the place for that.
You can post any media you like in here, provided that you have the rights - so that other users may benefit from it. If you want to make contributions specifically for the Open Surge game, please PM me.
Starting from early 2012, we had a change in the development philosophy, and we made this area by merging former existing ones. If you think some non-free content has escaped our attention, please report it via PM. If you see any broken links, please report them as well.
What we're looking for in this area is to have user-made free content, so that everyone can benefit from it.
Free content, or free information, is any kind of functional work, artwork, or other creative content having no significant legal restriction relative to people's freedom to use, distribute copies, modify, and to distribute derived works of the content.
Read the full article on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_content
Again, if you're going to contribute by sending content, you must:
Have full rights of your work
Put your work under a free license
Please avoid creating artificial restrictions such as "don't modify my resource" or "this must be used only for game ABC". If you don't want to release your content under a free license, then please don't submit it.
If you do not say anything about the license in the thread, sending any media (in form of game data) you make is an explicit acceptance that you release your content under the CC-BY-SA 3.0.
While this area has lots of contents in it, there are fan sites such as Surge's Warehouse that display things in a more organized fashion. Third-party sites may have different submission policies, though.
Other websites such as OpenGameArt have plenty of free content for you to use.
