We want to replace the current graphics of Open Sonic by original stuff. Blue Ocean Zone and Exotic Paradise should have their graphics replaced too.
We can start to think on how will the levels of Open Sonic will look like. Let's discuss about the first level. Blue Ocean Zone and Exotic Paradise will come later.
The first level will be very easy to play (easier than Blue Ocean Zone). I thought it should have a sunny background, with water and some mountains. Green trees, lots of grass, a good looking water flow and "mosaic" platforms should do the trick. This is NOT supposed to be Green Hill Zone (GHZ). Instead, we want something different and original. But we also want something as "happy"/colorful as GHZ.
I've made a small sketch of it. Please excuse the poor drawing, since I'm not an artist. I also don't have a scanner, so I just used the webcam of my personal notebook to scan it. If you have more ideas, let's discuss it some more. ![]()

Alright, so should we start with a standard grass block and a couple of key level colors?

That should do it. Personally I prefer some light brown to represent the earth blocks (as opposed to yellow from Green Hill) and some vivid green (full of life) to the grass. Some strong, vivid, beautiful blue for the sky and for the water should be fine too. The water will run and have animation (like Blue Ocean Zone), but we can easily program this in the background file.
Something similar to the style of Knuckles Chaotix would be awesome in my opinion. ![]()

Could you make it like the older sonic games rather than the newer game-boy-advanced games. The newer sonic games look too techno + polished in the jungle and anciet ruins levels. The older sonic games looked great as the natural levels and the techno/casino levels both had their own charm.

In fact we want something closer to some old Sonic games like Knuckles Chaotix, Sonic CD, Sonic 3 & Knuckles... We do not want the sonic-advance style.
