This gave me an idea. Why not use Minecraft to prototype level objects such as buildings and such things?

Maybe also Gamestar Mechanic for levels? GSM is free and easier to use, plus it is closely monitored so you'll get told off for inappropriate stuff e.t.c. I use it and agree it was designed for kids.
