I've been recently upgrading GameMaker 8.1 to GameMaker Studio 1.1, and soon 1.2. They have a way to allow downloads of images and sounds, as for other files too. This gave me a splendid idea: Why not have some content stored online? Instead of having a bulky download with everything needed, why not have the program download the files needed to play the next level, cutscene or boss. This can also be good to prevent the players from cheating. If the files are missing, then download the file. If it exist, then use the file on disk.

we may have something like that in the future, if there's a relatively "large" adoption of the engine. So we could have MODs to be downloaded directly from the game. Besides a paid server (we can't use sourceforge for that), we need people who can provide the content.
In a short term, however, a simple webpage with a few MODs is more likely.

True that, but we could also utilize dropbox for that.
