Game/Stage Select Music Submission

This is one I made for the Game Select screen.

It's relaxing, and combines chiptune and soft pads, along with a jazzy bass and some soulful guitar.  Or at least that's what I'd like to think.

Tell me what YOU think.

Thanks again!

Re: Game/Stage Select Music Submission

hey, let's hear more opinions about this.

I don't think that's suitable for a stage selection screen, but in my opinion it would fit a level like Black Forest Zone very well. Very relaxing and immersive. cool Congratulations.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=byNs17NmT8E is nice as well for Black Forest Zone, but as it turned out, it uses ripped sfx. If that music gets fixed and if people think both songs are suitable, we might make a poll, so users can pick one.

Changing the subject a little, we're missing a music for the tutorial zone. That is going to be the first level made for Open Surge.

Thanks.  I was actually thinking this after I submitted the song. . . I thought that maybe it would fit the 'Game Story" setting a little better.  It's too short to be a level theme imo.

I'm not challenging Joe and Silver on that one.  wink  We'll remake that one.  And if Joe and Silver don't feel up to remaking the music, I will remake it as accurately as I can myself and give them credit.

I thought Di already volunteered for that.

I  computer science.

I was under the impression that there would be a cutscene before beginning the game, including the backstory.  I thought this music would be fitting for that.

hmm, you might take a look at the wiki. It's written in there, but to say it briefly here, we're going to have a set of slideshows in between the levels, not just in the beginning. I'm not sure if this song would fit.

Well, still, let's hear what others think.

I actually just saw that on the Wiki.

Well, nonetheless, I would like to find a space for this song in the game, considering I probably won't be able to top this one or Sunshine Paradise.  tongue

Maybe it could fit the tutorial level??

I think that we should have more than just one 'story' song... it may make it seem out of place during some events.

And I'm totally up for resoundfontting Black Forest.

Agreed.

I'm up for making music for every cutscene.

Well, we can make 'themes' like 'sad', 'gimacian appears', and 'happy' instead of making one for every cutscene. We want to save space here... and 20+ cutscene songs is simply too many.

I'll leave those kind of songs to you and Joe or anyone else, though... I'm working on other things for this game.

That's a good idea.

Re: Game/Stage Select Music Submission

Great tune! This would definitly fit as options music. I personally can't stand the one available now.

TheGuitahHeroe, could you please share the .ogg?

If most people think this is a better choice for the options music, then we can use this song instead. But we can't know if the users don't give an opinion. Say something, people tongue

I personally agree with people above, meaning this song would be a better fit for a game story slideshow rather than for the options screen.
