Hei. I'm Sapphire Ice. I was always searching for a good Sonic Engine, that allows me to build stages easily. When I found Open Sonic, I was like this: .
Anyway, I made a quick short level that is the stage a "Newb" would make. ("NEWB", not "NOOB") Of course, I based this of the Example Stage. However, I did change the music to Tutorial.it (.it... never heard of that file format. O_O)
Anyway, on this stage, you can clear it either very fast, or you will take a good amount of time. And yes, I am very bad at placing rings. -_-' I also added a big ring, from the beginning of stage. But where can you open the door? Hmmm... (Quite easy, actually... ^_^') You might find a place full of Badniks, but I'm sure you can beat them up without problem. Even if you do have problem, Invincibility to teh rescue!
Here are a few pictures of the stage itself...:
Walking in a "not-so-secret" passage-way.
Knuckles doing nothing.
Be careful starting from here. Thoses stupid enemys will stalk you.
And now, the thing you (do not) want! The download link!
:: Download ::
So? Good for first start? Bad? Or just simply you saying: "MY EYES!"? I might do bricks later on, because I have the GIMP.
I like making stuff.

Hello Sapphire Ice and welcome to the forums!
Hey, that's a cool level. Those flying enemies killed me at first, but then I managed to defeat them I also could get the Big Ring. It's good for a first level.
An important thing to notice is that your level will only work for people who have installed the Example level before. If you want to make your level completely standalone, you must put everything inside one single package (images, backgrounds, themes, musics AND the level), not only the .lev file. I should make a tutorial about level distribution soon, but the final package should be similar to the example level (or to the Celdecea's desert level for example)
Also, the brown bricks can be broken with a spin dash. I don't know if it's intended or not, but many parts of the level use those bricks as platforms, which can be destroyed by the player. If that is not indended, you can turn off the "breakable" flag by editing the themes/example.brk file (see the "behavior" attribute of brick 21), like described in this tutorial.
Other than that, nice work!
By the way, you can find .it / .mod / .xm / .s3m music here: www.modarchive.com
