Switch and Door Graphics

Switches_and_doors.png

Here are some basic switch and door graphics I came up with to replace the ripped ones.  Even though the buttons aren't the same size they show up correctly in at least the Blue Ocean zone.

Going for a chain-gate look to rival the original:

If you want to see how it looks in your own games, see this wiki entry.

Re: Switch and Door Graphics

Nice. I didn't really enjoy the door, but the switches are nice.

Re: Switch and Door Graphics

Here is a slight redraw on the door.  Is there something specific about it?  Perhaps the chain-link look doesn't fit?

Re: Switch and Door Graphics

hmm, I don't like the whole style of the door. Those brown dots at the laterals could be replaced by something more solid and continuous, which gives the impression of a barrier.

When the character pushes the new door, it looks very strange. The old one is fine:

Re: Switch and Door Graphics

smile Fair enough, those were the bolts holding the links together but I agree it looks a little strange when Sonic pushes on it.

Here is a different look which "scales" with the game a bit. big_smile

Re: Switch and Door Graphics

The new one is great, i like it even better than the original! And i see the superawesome highlights wink
The emblem looks a little misplaced to me at first but on a second thought its a nice idea to place it there.

Re: Switch and Door Graphics

The emblem looks strange to me, but the borders of the new door are nice. smile Is it possible to mix the contents (the middle part of it, which is very solid) of your first door with the borders of the new one (without the emblem)?

Re: Switch and Door Graphics

The door with emblem looks best, does the emblem represent the colour of switch?

humm, sorry. This is what I asked, but it turned out that this is not what I wanted sad I'm looking for something that looks solid & pretty

hey, this is a great idea. Having doors of multiple colors. I believe it solves Silver's request beautifully. What do you people think?

Re: Switch and Door Graphics

Hey, that would work fine for me. Anything that allows multiple switches in a given area would work.

Closest door of same color would work just fine, and I can't devise many scenarios using more than three color doors that close to each other.  Which style should I try out the colors with?

Re: Switch and Door Graphics

DOOM 2 also has doors of different colors. We should keep the regular door and add three new colored doors (say, red, green and blue) and their corresponding switches. The fact that a regular switch works both on teleporters and regular doors should be noted, though. Colored switches will only work on their corresponding doors, not on teleporters.

Re: Switch and Door Graphics

The last one is much better than the previous doors, but I think it can still be improved a bit.

Not sure which direction I should take it from the last one, but here is what I think is a more solid appearance:

What happened to this idea? We had an idea for better switches going on here... is it on the to-do list?
