Here are some new blocks, this is basically the result of experimenting with pixel style art in the 3D graphics suite Blender to create new graphics content for OpenSonic.

Nice work, Bastian! Reminds me a bit of Sonic R and Knuckles Chaotix, but with a very special original twist. I'm looking forward to seeing the workflow for the art, so we can get things up and running.

Nice! About five more of those boilers and a few pipe shape pieces and you have the bulk of a spiffy looking level.

Thanks, you understand me
Do you think that the style fits for the game? As i wrote its actually 3D art made pixel stylish. This should give a benefit when designing the characters and animations and making variations of existing objects. I'll release the original file with all materials and objects so people can create new graphics for the game in a matter of minutes. However, it should match with other pixel/sonic style art for the game. But i do not want to make a exact copy of Sonics art as OpenSonic must get independent and free of intellectual property.

Agree'd.
I think it's a good original style. We should make a test to see how it feels in the game. A few more assets (floors, walls, maybe a test background) and we can make a small level to try things out. What do you think? It doesn't have to be anything specific, as we just want to try out the art style.

Perhaps the bottom areas of the Sky Fortress zone could be boilers assisting some hidden machinery to keep the whole thing afloat.

Thank you guys! I must admit i have difficulties with the sonic style of the floors and walls but i'll try to make something.

Here is what your rings look like in game:
Before (left) and after (right). The sparkles are from the item box image.
To try this ring graphic out, download the above image to your opensonic/images folder, then open up config/sprite.def and look for the following around line 690:
; Ring
sprite SD_RING
{
source_file images/items.png
source_rect 278 178 64 48
Warning: The developer has recommended against editing the sprite.def file. Please make backups before proceeding.
Replace the source_file and source_rect lines with the following:
source_file images/rings.png
source_rect 5 40 64 48

Hi there,
I, by no mean, want to flaw the hard work made so far, but I wanted to know:
As long as you're replacing ripped graphics, why not change rings for something else?
(Hollow stars, shards, ...)? Just an idea, though!
Best regards.
